Cernan Earth and Space Center to close temporarily for renovations

Cernan EntranceThe Cernan Earth and Space Center at Triton College will be closed for renovations following its public programs on Aug. 23 through early October.

At this time, no public shows will be available, with the exception of the Cernan Center’s Monthly Skywatch on Sept. 26 that will only offer free telescope viewing outside on the lawn, weather permitting. Public shows will commence mid-October.

Renovations to the interior of the Cernan Center will include updating the lobby, as well as installing new seating, carpeting and acoustics throughout the center.

A new full-dome projection system was recently installed over the summer at the Cernan Center to provide a newer and more exciting experience to viewers; plus with the capabilities of the new system, it can be utilized as a new learning vehicle for Triton’s students.
